Parabilis, EGS’s online eProcurement marketplace for higher education, proved a major draw among the hundreds of delegates at the Conference on University Purchasing (COUP), held near London in September.
University procurement chiefs, finance executives and other key decision-makers watched demonstrations in the exhibition area and explored the benefits of Parabilis with EGS's professionals and colleagues from the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium (SUPC).
With the harsher economic climate in mind, many delegates were especially interested in the sizeable efficiencies being achieved by universities using Parabilis to procure goods. Another hot topic was electronic invoicing (eInvoicing) – and the vast savings and seamless automation achieved by EGS to complete the transaction lifecycle.
Additional interest among delegates was generated by one of the popular presentations during a seminar entitled “The Efficiency Agenda” – where the successful deployment of Parabilis at Leeds Metropolitan University was explained by eProcurement Officer, Liz Wilson.
This summer, the value of orders placed by Leeds Met through Parabilis totalled more than £7 million, as the university continues to roll out its marketplace. Leeds Met is starting to benefit from significant time savings, other efficiency gains and a clearer picture of expenditure, enabling better use of open contracts.
“There’s clearly a ‘buzz’ about Parabilis in the higher education marketplace, as word is spreading quickly about the savings possible,” comments Peter Whent, Chief Executive at EGS. “It was a pleasure meeting so many senior decision-makers for the first time and hearing about their unique challenges. With Parabilis, they can launch a proven solution within months and enjoy a rapid return on investment.”
