  • Havebury Housing takes purchasing online with EGS
  • October 2009
  • EGS, the UK market leader in spend management, is delighted to announce that Havebury Housing Partnership has selected its full purchase-to-pay (P2P) solution.

With EGS, Havebury will be able to deliver significant savings and achieve greater visibility and control over its purchasing, as it provides good quality, affordable homes and housing services in West Suffolk.

Scheduled to go ‘live’ in early 2010, the solution will replace Havebury’s paper-based purchasing systems with an eMarketplace. This will be loaded with supplier goods and services – available to every authorised buyer via a web browser using a single shopping basket.

As well as supplier on-boarding and catalogue management, the solution also includes training for purchasing and accounts payable staff and full integration with Havebury’s SunAccounts financial system.

Meanwhile, the addition of EGS’s award-winning eInvoicing module will complete the transaction journey, enabling suppliers of all types to submit invoices electronically – at no cost to them – saving Havebury’s staff from having to re-key paper-based information.

“We first heard about EGS’s proven solution at a special event for social housing providers,” explains Stephen Shaw, Head of Finance at Havebury Housing. “We now look forward to the savings we will make from switching to electronic systems, as well as deploying best practice to enhance the purchasing decisions of our budget-holders.

“EGS will give us greater visibility of spending to enable better-informed strategic decisions and supplier negotiations. We especially like the idea of joining forces with other similar organisations and housing consortia for greater purchasing power in the marketplace.”

Peter Whent, Chief Executive at EGS, commented: “Increasingly, organisations in a range of sectors are turning to EGS to help them realise the savings possible by automating their purchasing and invoice management processes. We are delighted to be working with Havebury and look forward to helping them meet their objectives.

“Though every organisation is unique, the challenges of purchasing and invoicing are often common to all … across the public, private and third sectors. With EGS, organisations have a way to quickly overcome roadblocks to efficiency throughout the P2P process without having to put their core businesses at risk or invest in new hardware or personnel.”
