  • Success for EGS at 2011 Government Business Awards
  • February 2011
  • EGS Group Ltd, the leader in business process automation, has enjoyed success at the 2011 Government Business Awards, which recognise effective business practice in the public sector.

The company reached the awards final and was commended in the Supplier of the Year category for its partnership with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.

This follows success in 2009 when an EGS e-invoicing solution helped Essex County Council win the coveted Local Government Procurement Award.

The 2011 awards ceremony took place at Twickenham Stadium on February 17 and was presented by Bill Turnbull from BBC Breakfast.

EGS helped Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council to transform the way it procures goods and services. The resulting E-Buy solution is on course to save £3.5million over five years which the council can re-invest in services for citizens.

E-Buy has replaced disparate and inefficient systems with a highly-automated, web-based solution for purchasing-to-payment (P2P), including electronic invoicing. The solution is as intuitive as Amazon.com, saving hours of admin time for employees. Suppliers of all sizes and the wider local economy are benefiting too.

Commenting on the news, EGS chief Executive Peter Whent commented: “It’s a great honour to be commended by the judges of these highly-respected awards. We have an excellent partnership with Nuneaton and Bedworth. And the E-Buy solution was delivered on time and under budget.”
