  • Wolverhampton City Council selects P2P solution from EGS
  • July 2011
  • EGS is delighted to announce that Wolverhampton City Council has selected its purchase-to-pay (P2P) solution. The two-year contract will support the authority’s overall strategy to save millions of pounds for citizens.

Set to go ‘live’ this autumn, the solution will streamline and simplify the way the council buys from suppliers, while automating and accelerating the processing of invoices.

As a result, the council will be able to drive efficiency, save money, strengthen compliance and follow best practice. Suppliers will also benefit from smoother transactions and timely payments.

“We wanted a proven solution that would be fast to deploy, easy to use and deliver rapid savings,” says Simon Lunn, Head of Operational Finance at Wolverhampton City Council.

“EGS have an excellent track record in the P2P arena and are providing exactly what’s needed to support our ongoing procurement strategy and contribute to council-wide savings.”

    • An ‘eshop’ where the council’s authorised budget-holders can go online and can use a single shopping basket to choose from thousands of goods and services from approved suppliers. This will make purchasing faster and easier, while ensuring that the council achieves ‘best value’ – because only items at agreed prices from approved suppliers will be available.

“The EGS solution will also provide a clearer idea of spending across all categories, so the council will also be in a stronger position to consolidate and negotiate future contracts,” explains Simon Lunn.

    • Electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) to automate the management and approvals process for supplier invoices. The council receives over 100,000 invoices annually. The solution will replace paper invoices with electronic versions, saving the council from thousands of hours’ manually re-keying paper invoices into its accounts payable systems. Invoices can also be matched and approved automatically, ready for payment.

“Suppliers will benefit,” adds Simon Lunn. “Invoice processing will be accelerated, accuracy improved and queries reduced. This will result in more timely payments by the council.”

Peter Whent, Chief Executive at EGS, commented: “EGS is delighted to be helping Wolverhampton City Council at a time when local authorities are under greater financial constraints than ever before. Our solution will support the council as it transforms its procurement strategy to make substantial savings.”
