EGS has underlined its reputation for thought leadership in spend management by running a highly-rated 'Learning Lab' for financial decision-makers at a select business conference in London in January.
Representatives from across the full spectrum of public sector organisations attended the Finance Shared Services for the Public Sector event at the Millennium Knightsbridge, attracted by the prospect of dramatically-reduced invoice-processing costs and multi-million pound shared service savings.
Providing independent feedback, delegates scored EGS with a near-perfect 4.5/5 or higher for the Lab’s usefulness, its content and the way the session was run. A similar rating was given for the influence that delegates believe the event will have on the redesign of their business processes.
The EGS Learning Lab focused on closing the loop in the purchase-to-pay (P2P) lifecycle, with special emphasis on ensuring end-user compliance and achieving first-time supplier invoice matching.
Delegates were guided through EGS's 5 Golden Rules for implementing an automated P2P solution - and could see how unifying the 'Three P's' (people, processes and policies) was critical to success.
The EGS team cited the case of one customer on course to deliver £2.5m in savings from electronic invoicing (eInvoicing) over five years. Adrian Gibson, Business Development Director, and Chris Buckley, Regional Account Manager, also showed how EGS was pushing back traditional boundaries and extending eProcurement into new areas such as human resources.
In their feedback, delegates praised the practical, interactive and relevant guidance provided by EGS and requested a longer session next time. They were unanimous in stating they would recommend the EGS Learning Lab to colleagues.
Delegates at the EGS session were given hands-on opportunities to examine scenarios, devise their own process maps and confront the often-contentious area of cultural and behavioural change that can prove such a huge factor in maximising the return on investment.
The EGS team also showcased one of the company's most powerful new tools: a feature-rich cost calculator that reveals to organisations their current 'true cost' per invoice and the reduced figure that is achievable after a successful P2P deployment.
"The Learning Lab was extremely well received - and a pleasure to host," comments Adrian Gibson. "The event highlighted the appetite for P2P savings among finance decision-makers and their thirst for expert, practical advice on how to plan, execute and manage a successful implementation. The feedback we received was very encouraging. I think EGS has a big role to play in helping organisations such as these make the big decisions when considering, evaluating or deploying a P2P solution."
